When
pursuing this style of training as will any physical activity
associated with a level of risk, proper instruction is a must.
Training correctly under the guidance and supervision of a
qualified and experienced instructor, one will gain more than
just fumbling with the latest 'learn
to be deadly' in the privacy of your own home manual written
by some obscure instructor with an even more obscure master.
We
are all too often captivated by the well built fighter moving
at the speed of light executing multiple acrobatic type kicking
maneuvers and tossing opponents, two and three at a time,
several feet through the air. The reality of the situation
is that this style of fighting is better suited to the movies.
Finger manipulations, pinching and gouging are simpler te
chniques which require much less training,
conditioning and natural ability. They are an effective means
of defending oneself and are within the capability of a much
less robust individual.
The consequence resulting from these techniques
can vary from the extremely serious eye gouge to the merely
annoying sprained finger. How often during sparring workouts
do debilitating sprained joints find their way into the picture
and how often with immediate and serious consequences to the
recipient? These techniques can be executed empty handed or
with the aid of something as simple and small as a set of
keys or a ball point pen with target areas covering the entire
body. Some may consider this "fighting dirty" etc.
but when your minding your own business and some serious trouble
comes knocking on your door, especially multiple opponents
in a restricted space you will need techniques that can restrain,
immobilize and inflict extreme pain quickly and effectively.

Flashy, But Effective
